Update (22nd Dec 2022): We anticipate interviewing on Monday 9th January. Please submit your application form by 9am on Tuesday 3rd January in order to be considered.

Could you work with us and make a difference to local people struggling to keep their homes warm?

Burnham & Weston Energy is recruiting Home Energy Advisors to provide tailored and practical support to residents in homes across Highbridge, Burnham-on-Sea, Mark, Winscombe, Weston-super-Mare, and the surrounding area. There is a possibility this will expand to cover Bridgwater and further into Sedgemoor.

You will visit residents in their homes to share advice and install small practical energy efficiency measures such as draught proofing tape and LED lightbulbs. Your aim will be to help people reduce their energy use, cut fuel bill costs, and make it easier for them to heat their homes.

Qualifications and experience

Ideally, you will have a good knowledge of domestic energy efficiency and hold a Level 3 Energy Awareness, Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) or equivalent qualification. However, we feel to be successful in this role it will be most important that you have experience in supporting people in the community, particularly those who are vulnerable and/or in fuel poverty. This is a challenging role that will be served best if you are personable, empathic and resilient. Thus, we will provide energy efficiency training to the right candidate(s).

Further requirements are outlined in the linked Job Description. See below.

Update: You will see that we want our Home Energy Advisor to work with us on a self-employed basis. If you are new to being self-employed, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (linked below). We have agreed a partnership with SBA CIC so we can offer a package of support to help you establish yourself as a self-employed contractor.
