Retrofitting homes is key to achieving net zero. Here’s a great retrofit case study from St Albans where a household took on a major renovation of their Victorian end-of-terrace home. While tearing down the house, they saw an opportunity to future-proof it. For an extra £20,000 spent on insulation, ventilation, and a heat pump, they cut their energy consumption by 75% and boosted their EPC rating from D to B. This upgrade also increased the property’s value by an estimated £90,000.

Although this case study is from outside our local area, it’s a great example of the impact retrofitting can have.
