Could you work with us and make a difference to local people struggling to keep their homes warm?

Burnham & Weston Energy is recruiting Home Energy Advisors to provide tailored and practical support to residents in homes across the former Sedgemoor area and Weston-super-Mare. You will help us deliver our Home Energy Saving Service and a new service soon-to-be-announced.

You will visit residents in their homes to:

  • Share tailored energy and money saving advice
  • Help people solve problems they may have with their energy suppliers or their bills
  • Install small practical energy efficiency measures, including draught excluders, radiator reflectors and LED lightbulbs
  • Refer them for grants to help fund bigger energy efficiency measures such as insulation and energy efficient boilers
  • Help people access benefits, debt and money advice
  • Connect them to other local community groups or advisors where other types of help and support will make a difference
  • And more…

Your aim will be to help people reduce their energy use, cut fuel bill costs, and make it easier for them to heat their homes.

Qualifications and experience

Ideally, you will have a good knowledge of domestic energy efficiency and hold a Level 3 Energy Awareness, Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) or equivalent qualification. However, we feel to be successful in this role it will be most important that you have experience in supporting people in the community, particularly those who are vulnerable and/or in fuel poverty. This is a challenging role that will be served best if you are personable, empathic and resilient. We can provide energy efficiency training to the right candidate(s).

Further requirements are outlined in the linked Home Energy Advisor Job Description. See below.
